Building

The Building Division protects the public health and safety by ensuring that all structures are built in accordance with adopted building codes.  The City of Mukilteo’s Building Inspector is Willie Berns.

Important tip: If you are thinking about initiating a project on your property and wonder if a permit will be required, please call 425.263.8076 to speak with Willie.  He is happy to discuss your project with you and let you know what steps you need to take for a successful outcome.  It’s always best to engage the City early in your project plans – to save time, money and headaches!

This Division provides information to the public on building code requirements, reviews and approves building plans, and performs a complete range of building services including plan check review and inspections services for all required codes, including building, plumbing, mechanical, energy, barrier free, and building heights. The State of Washington conducts electrical system plan checks and inspections.

The Building Division also investigates complaints regarding illegal or unsafe structures and when necessary, initiates code enforcement orders against violators.
