October 22 Proclaimed “Mukilteo Heros Day” by County Executive

Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers declared October 22, 2019 “Mukilteo Heros Day” to honor the residents and Mukilteo Fire Department staff who worked quickly to provide CPR to Linda Surface who suffered cardiac arrest. She and her family were attending a school-related event at Olympic View Middle School.

“The Mukilteo community heroically came together to save Linda’s life on September 24, 2019,” said Executive Somers.  “I encourage all Snohomish County residents to honor those who save lives by learning CPR and knowing where the nearest AED is located at your office, home or school.”

Ms. Surface and her family held an event on October 22 at Fire Station 24 in Old Town to thank those residents who worked so quickly to provide live-saving compressions and Olympic View Middle School staff for providing the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) until Fire Captain Mike Yoakum and his team could take over. Linda’s life was saved by these experienced, caring residents. Thank you!
