About the Project
As the City continues to improve the trail head through expanding the Community Garden, constructing the Dirt Jump Course, and plantings in the meadow areas, parking lot conditions are making it difficult to access the outdoor recreation that the community enjoys. This project will improve the current asphalt surfacing and has wide community support including the City Recreation Department, the Community Garden, and the Parks & Arts Commission.
Project Description
This project will re-surface the existing asphalt parking lot with a new 2” layer of pavement. Activity will include extensive cleaning and sweeping, leveling of raised surfaces, grinding at the access points and the placement of the new asphalt. Once the surfacing has been placed, crews will restripe the parking stalls and channelization. This project will require the closure of the parking area for a period of 3- working days for the contractor to complete the improvements necessary.
Goals and Benefits
This project will improve the surface conditions of the existing asphalt parking area, allowing for better vehicle accessibility and safer walking conditions.
Public Outreach
During the construction phase, the City will utilize various forms of communication to keep the community informed of the project, namely, through the City’s project website, posted signage, and through key points of contact to respond to requests for information regarding the construction operations. Public meetings are not anticipated during the construction phase of the project.
Project Schedule
Currently, construction is anticipated to be May 14th through May 16th, depending on weather conditions. During these dates, the parking lot will be closed.
Project Funding
The 76th Street Trailhead Parking Lot Overlay will be funded by a Snohomish County Community Partnership Grant (REET II) and local funds, with a construction budget of $95,000.
