The City of Mukilteo bills for emergency medical care and ambulance transportation to help cover the cost of the treatment and transport. Rates are set by City Council annually and the department is obligated to bill all patients. Debt modification or cancellation rules are also set by the City Council. The City of Mukilteo partners with a third-party billing contractor, called Systems Design West. If the patient has insurance, the third-party billing contractor will bill the insurance on the patient's behalf. Patients are responsible for any co-pays or deductibles. Unpaid accounts are referred to a collection agency and additional fees will apply.
