The City of Mukilteo encourages citizen participation in municipal government. A very important part of the City's policy development process is the work of its Commissions and Committees.
While some Commissions are required by State law, such as the Planning Commission and the Civil Service Commission, others are established by local ordinance or by special appointment by the Mayor and Council on an as needed basis. In general, the primary purpose of these groups is to provide on-going citizen input to the Mayor and City Council.
With the exception of Hearing Examiner, all Commission and Board positions are voluntary and unpaid. The Mayor, City Council and community are fortunate to have such dedicated residents devote so much time and effort to these Commissions and Committees to help make good public policy for Mukilteo.
