Fire

General Information

In 2015, The Mukilteo Fire Department began a multi-year reorganization process under the guiding vision "Excellence in Public Service." Duties and responsibilities of the department include prevention services, fire suppression services, fire cause and origin investigation, emergency medical services, disaster preparedness and response, and other special operations.

The Fire Chief is the administrative head of the department. The authorized strength of 30 personnel respond from two stations, Station 24 in Old Town and Station 25 in Harbour Pointe. Each station has three personnel on duty around the clock. Those personnel staff a fire engine or ambulance, depending on the emergency. In addition to the Fire Chief, the department has three Shift Battalion Chief Officers, and a Senior Department Assistant. All administrative staff have offices at Station 25.

The department receives funds from the City's General Fund, an Emergency Medical Services levy, and billing for ambulance transports. The department is organized into three divisions, Administration, Operations, and Prevention.

To inquire about an ambulance bill, call Mukilteo's third-party billing vendor, Systems Design West at 800-238-9398 or 360-394-7010.

Firework Policy

Fireworks are no longer legal within Mukilteo City limits.

Per Mukilteo Municipal Code Chapter 8.04, it is unlawful for any person to sell, use, transfer, discharge, ignite or explode any fireworks within the City, unless you have a specific permit allowing the discharge of fireworks (example: Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival). Applications for a permit to hold, conduct or operate a public display of fireworks shall be made to the fire marshal at least fourteen days prior to the scheduled event. Applicants shall meet all qualifications and requirements of state law regarding public display of fireworks and all fire and safety requirements as set forth in the standards for public display.

Violations of this chapter shall constitute a misdemeanor and be subject to the provisions contained in Mukilteo Municipal Code Chapter 1.32.
