Mukilteo Planning Commission Vacancy January 2021

Planning Commissioner Melanie Field is resigning from her position at the end of 2020. Melanie has served since 2009 and we thank her for her invaluable contributions to this board. We are now accepting applications for this position. This vacancy will fill the remainder of the term (expiring 12/31/2022), and then will be available for reappointment, per 2.36.020(F).

The deadline to submit applications is 4:30pm, Thursday, December 31, 2020. Virtual interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of January the 4th, 2021. Confirmation of Mayor Gregerson’s recommendation is tentatively scheduled for the Regular Council Meeting on January 19th, 2021. The first meeting of 2021 is January 28th.

The qualification to serve on the Planning Commission includes being a resident within the City limits; knowledge of planning, land use and zoning is recommended.

Per MMC 2.36, the City’s Planning Commission consists of seven members who are appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by the City Council. Duties of this Commission include an annual review of the Comprehensive Plan and making recommendations to the Mayor and City Council.  This Commission may also act as the research and fact finding agency of the City upon such request or authority given by the Mayor and City Council on land use and other related issues.  For more information about the City’s Planning Commission, visit their homepage.
