Temporary Lane Closures Scheduled to Begin 2-19-19

 Notice:

The Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District’s (District) Contractor, SRV Construction, Inc. is scheduled to begin construction on the 2019 Water and Sewer Improvement Projects on Tuesday February 19th.They will start with the Washington Ave. project first. The 2019 Water and Sewer Improvement Project includes the three below described projects.

Washington Ave. Water Main Replacement. This project will replace approximately 1,600 linear feet of 6-inch cast iron water main with restraint joint 8-inch ductile iron water main and replaces two Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) stations. The project starts at 5th Street and Lincoln Avenue. It then goes up Lincoln Avenue and through 6th Street. After running the full length of Washington Avenue, it terminates just short of Washington Avenue and Goat Trail Road.

LS #9 Force Main Construction. This project will replace approximately 3,400 linear feet of plastic sewer force main with polyurethane lined restraint joint 8-inch ductile iron sewer main. The project starts at the Sewer Lift station located on the South side of the railroad tracks and runs up Park Ave to 3rd ST.  It then runs West on 3rd Street, South on Lincoln Ave and then West on 4th ST where it will go under the Speedway in a Jack and Bore. The remainder of the project runs up the West Shoulder of the Speedway to the Sewer Lift Station at Goat Trail Road.

9th and Park Sewer Line Replacement. A small portion of the sewer line, in an easement near 9th and Park, will be replaced due to a sag in the line.

We anticipate Construction to take three to five weeks, weather dependent.

Impacts:

The construction operations for this project will impact traffic in/along the streets named above and the general area surrounding them. For the most part, the new pipe is to be installed in the existing pavement. Temporary asphalt patching will be performed immediately once pipe installation is completed. Final paving in the impacted areas will be done at the same time for the projects. The Contractor will do the best they can to provide local access during construction. Residents will continue to have uninterrupted water and sewer service during the projects. The exception will be brief (approximate 30 minute) interruptions in water service towards the end of the project to switch theservices over to the new mains.

Traffic lanes will be temporarily closed during construction with flaggers helping to direct traffic around the work zones. There will be some temporary/short term loss of parking as equipment is utilized and the pipes are installed along the streets.
