Mukilteo Water and Wastewater – Washington Ave. Water Main Replacement – Lane Closures Begin 2-25-2019

Lane Closures Scheduled to Begin February 25, 2019

The Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District’s (District) Contractor, SRV Construction, Inc. is scheduled to begin construction on the 2019 Water and Sewer Improvement Projects on Monday, February 25th. There are three Projects/Schedules in this year’s work. They will start with the Washington Ave. Water Main Replacement project first.  All projects are expected to be completed by June 2019.

This project will replace approximately 1,600 linear feet of 6-inch cast iron water main with restraint joint 8-inch ductile iron water main and replaces two Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) stations. The project starts at 5th Street and Lincoln Avenue. It then goes up Lincoln Avenue and through 6th Street. After running the full length of Washington Avenue, it terminates just short of Washington Avenue and Goat Trail Road.

Impacts: The construction operations for this project will impact traffic in/along the streets named above and the general area surrounding them. For the most part, the new pipe is to be installed in the uphill (Southbound) lane of the existing pavement. Temporary asphalt patching will be performed immediately once pipe installation is completed. Final paving, in the impacted areas, will be done at the same time for all the projects, so there will be some delay between the temporary patch pavement and the final pavement. The Final pavement will consist of a grind and re-pave of both the uphill and downhill lanes. Residents will continue to have uninterrupted water and sewer service during the projects. The exception will be brief (approximate 30 minute) interruptions in water service towards the end of the project to switch the services over to the new mains.

Road Closure: “Road Closed to Thru Traffic, Road Closed Ahead and Road Work Ahead” signs will be placed at both ends of the project with the intent of allowing residents and their guests through. Smaller moving work zone closures, of both lanes, will be in effect from approximately 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday. If your residence is in the work zone closure on that particular day, pull up and speak to the contractor to gain access to your driveway. Police, Fire, Emergency, Mail, Garbage and regular deliveries will be uninterrupted. The Contractor will do the best they can to provide local access during construction. Pedestrian thru access will be maintained to the maximum extent feasible. There will be some temporary/short term loss of parking as equipment is utilized and the pipes are installed along the streets.
