It’s been seventeen years since that terrible day, September 11, 2001, when 2,911 people were killed in New York City, at the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA. Many were police and firefighters responding to the three-pronged attacks that day. The victims ranged in age from two to 85 years; most of the victims were men.
the Department of Homeland Security was created in response to September 11.
Flags at all city facilities are flying at half staff in honor of the lost and still missing. We also honor our own first responders, whose mission is to save and protect.
