The Mukilteo Police Department will host “Coffee with a Cop” on October 4, 2017, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. The event will be held at Starbucks Coffee located at 10100 Mukilteo Speedway, Mukilteo, Washington 98275. Police Chief Cheol Kang, Assistant Chief Glen Koen, Park Ranger Peg Bohan, and Crime Prevention Officer Myron Travis, will meet with community members to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee. All community members are invited to attend.
“This is a great opportunity for members of the community to stop by to ask questions and learn about the great work our Police Department is doing in our neighborhoods”, said Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson.
This opportunity allows for police and the community to interact in a relaxed environment that provides the most effective time for relationship building.
“Coffee with a Cop” eliminates situational barriers and allows for a one-on-one interaction with police department members. Police-community partnerships are vital in effective police strategies and this is one of the most effective ways to maintain those relationships”, said Police Chief Cheol Kang.
October 4th is National “Coffee with a Cop Day” and is supported by The United States Department of Justice and The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.
