Mukilteo Hosting Thirteenth Citizens’ Police Academy

The Mukilteo Police Department is offering a free 8-week academy for the community from Thursday, September 21, 2017, through Thursday, November 9, 2017.  The academy will meet on Thursdays from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at the Rosehill Community Center, located at 304 Lincoln Avenue, Mukilteo, WA 98275.  Highlighted public safety presentations include a K-9 demonstration, first aid and fire safety presentations, and a crime scene investigations exercise.

“I’m pleased that each year the Mukilteo Police Department is able to provide this exciting opportunity to the community.  I urge members of the community to participate in this academy to learn how police and fire respond to emergencies and what it takes to keep us all safe,” said Mayor Jennifer Gregerson.  “This reflects the City’s continued commitment to build strong relationships and engage with the community we serve.”

Chief Cheol Kang said, “The Mukilteo Police Citizens Academy allows the participants to gain a better understanding of what we do on a daily basis to serve the community from a law enforcement perspective.  This opportunity will also provide members of the department the unique opportunity to interact with members of the community in a non-emergency situation.  A positive police-community relationship is a key element of effective policing and I’m excited to continue the citizen academy program.”

Applications can be submitted on the city’s website at www.mukilteowa.gov or at the Mukilteo Police Department located at 10500 47th Place West, Mukilteo, WA 98275.  Seats are limited so anyone interested is encouraged to apply soon.
