(MUKILTEO, WA) The City of Mukilteo would like to remind residents that it is illegal to sell, use, transfer, discharge, ignite or explode any fireworks within City limits. The City encourages residents to participate in a regional public fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day.
“Fireworks are dangerous, especially around children,” said Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson. “Every year, we hear stories of young children being seriously injured by firecrackers. It really doesn’t need to happen, and I hope our residents will instead attend a public fireworks display instead of setting off their own.”
“It is illegal to discharge fireworks within the City,” according to Fire Chief Chris Alexander. “Each year, our crews are very busy responding to emergency calls related to burns or eye injuries resulting from fireworks. We also have many calls to put out fires especially when it’s been dry. With July 4th on a Monday this year, I’m sure we’ll be extra busy out there.”
There are several public fireworks displays taking place throughout the Puget Sound region, a few local shows that residents are encouraged to participate in are:
