Citywide Spring Cleanup Postponed

The City of Mukilteo and Waste Management are postponing the annual Spring Curbside Cleanup, originally scheduled for May 21st, due to capacity issues at all Snohomish County transfer stations.  Since the start of the year, countywide refuse has built up due to a shortage of intermodal containers used for waste-by-rail shipments to the Roosevelt Landfill, located in south central Washington. Due to this build up, the County has asked cities in Snohomish to postpone any special collections.

“It’s important that we help support the County as they work through these issues,” says Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine. “We look forward to being able to provide this event to residents when this has been resolved.”

The City and Waste Management will continue to monitor the situation at Snohomish County transfer stations. Waste Management and the City hope to identify a new date for the cleanup event in the coming months.
