3rd Annual Mukilteo Art Contest January 26

The City of Mukilteo’s Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) will host it’s 3rd annual Mukilteo Art Contest on Sunday, January 26, 2020 beginning at 2pm at Rosehill Community Center. Applications for youth in grades K-12 are being accepted online until January 8, 2020 or until the maximum number of applications reach 150. Applicants are asked to upload a photograph of their art work that will be judged by an exceptional panel of local artists who will select winners in the Elementary and Middle/High School categories.

Mayor Jennifer Gregreson will again announce the winners and present their certificates and gift cards. “These young artists are very inspiring to me,” said Mayor Gregerson. “The view of the world around them using color, delicate or strong strokes of a paint brush, or a camera introduces us to a part of themselves that takes courage and creativity to express. I look forward to seeing the artwork at the January reception and hope you will join me in applauding their work.”

Any of the artists may display their work at the January 26 reception. Drop off at Rosehill will be the same day from 11:00am to 1:30pm, with the reception beginning at 2pm. All artwork can be taken home after the Mayor announces the winners in the two categories as follows:

  • Elementary: K-5th grades, 2d art work only. Winning entries will receive art supplies worth $50 (first place), $25 (2nd place) and $20 (third place). For the first time,  all Elementary artists will be considered for an “Aspiring Artist” award based on their description of what inspired them to create their piece of art
  • Middle and High: 6th-12th grades, digital and 2d. First place winner will receive $75, second place $50 and third place $25.

Any young artist in the area can apply; attending the Mukilteo School District is not a requirement. If the artist is a minor, we would like the parent to complete the application in behalf of their student. Students also have the option of offering their work for sale at the reception. This is a free, public event. Refreshments will be served.
