2020 Pavement Preservation Program

Project Description
In continuation of the City of Mukilteo’s annual program for street preservation, the City identified several locations in Mukilteo for rehabilitation by full depth pavement repair, grind and overlay, and restoration of pavement markings.
The full depth repair areas include Front Street, Lighthouse Park road and parking lot, an alley west of Cornelia Avenue, and 95th Place SW. The specified repairs in these areas will be excavated and compacted with 4” of crushed surfacing base course (CSBC) topped with 6” of hot mixed asphalt (HMA). The Lighthouse parking lot will be ground down and overlaid with 2” of HMA. All existing pavement markings will be replaced upon rehab completion.

Street Repair Street Repair

Goals and Benefits
The goal of this project is to repair small areas of damaged pavement and “keep good roads in good conditions” based on the pavement preservation mission.

Public Outreach
Throughout the construction phase, the City will work with the Consultant and Contractor to keep in communication with Mukilteo residents. Key outreach materials include mailer postcards to notify residents of the impacted streets and work dates in the project area, and up-to-date information on the City’s project website. If rescheduling of work occurs, residents will be notified by the contractor 24-hours in-advance, and updates will be made online.
The Contractor will also be reaching out in-person to any properties that will have restricted access before the work occurs.
Project Schedule
Construction of the project will have limited impacts due to preserving existing street design and keeping all selected streets partially open. However, there may be limited access to driveways for several hours.
During construction, you can expect work 7 AM to 5 PM Monday through Thursday.
Additional considerations to the construction schedule include:
• Work on Front Street may occur between 9 AM to 3 PM
• No work is planned for Friday through Sunday at Lighthouse Park nor on Front Street,
• Minor Parking restrictions may occur within the parking facility at Lighthouse Park
• Transit access shall be maintained
