The next session of the Mukilteo Police Department’s Community Academy will be offered weekly from October 6 to December 1, 2022; there will be no session on Thanksgiving Day, November 24. This eight week Community Academy allows attendees to interact with Police Officers while they learn about the day-to-day operations of the Mukilteo Police Department. Classes meet for three hours one night per week (on Thursdays) for 8 weeks, and are provided at no charge to attendees. Classes are typically held at Rosehill Community Center, located at 304 Lincoln Avenue in Mukilteo.
What you will learn:
- Classroom instruction of police mission, policies and operations
- Patrol Division and Traffic Unit
- Use of K-9 Officer and Police Dog – Crime Prevention
- Tour of the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office
- Optional ride-along with a Mukilteo Police Officer (highly recommended!)
- Other subjects
Although the Community Academy is not intended to make police officers out of the public, those who attend will learn a great deal about all phases of law enforcement. Completion of this class is one of the requirements to be considered as a Volunteer in Public Safety.
While these classes are not strenuous, you should consider your ability to sit for up to three hours, stand, walk, stoop, withstand loud noises, and interact with Police officers. If you have a disability which may limit your participation in these classes, please contact the Police Department at 425.263.8100 at least three (3) business days in advance so that we can arrange a reasonable accommodation for you.
