Mukilteo’s High Quality of Life

Mukilteo has regularly been recognized as one of America’s more desirable places to live. When individuals or businesses are looking to relocate, a city’s quality of life or livability are the primary factors behind deciding where to move to. In Mukilteo we constantly strive to protect and enhance the high quality of life we currently enjoy. Maintaining a strong, sustainable economic climate that preserves and improves the quality of life Mukilteo’s residents and workers currently enjoy is a key factor in this effort. Livability, top-notch schools, easy-to-access health services and an abundance of leisure time activities all contribute to Mukilteo being one of the top ten small towns in the nation. We are committed to partnering with others who will work to ensure Mukilteo continues to have these important attributes.

The City of Mukilteo’s Economic Development efforts are focused on maximizing the city’s potential for businesses, jobs, robust neighborhoods, and economic opportunity while maintaining the area’s sustainability and livability for everyone in the city. Attracting and Retaining Businesses

For many years, the City of Mukilteo has enjoyed a reputation of outstanding and timely land use review and approval processes. All projects are assigned a Project Manager who will shepherd the project from start to finish. They are there to solves problems as they arise and to work with all city departments which play a role in the development review and approval process. Mukilteo’s Project Managers are facilitators on your behalf.

Land Use Innovations

  • Pre-application meetings offered free of charge
  • Review of land use project applications typically take less than 90 days
  • Providing consistency and assurances throughout the process
Early Practice in Using Planned-Actions

Projects in the Harbour Pointe area are facilitated because:

  • Environmental work, including the provision of impact mitigation on wetlands, steep slopes and streams, has already been done, except for site specific investigation and mitigation
  • Transportation impact fees are already paid for and only very specific issues to the type of project remain to be addressed

Considerable Experience in Using Development Agreements
We have partnered in the preparation and adoption of mixed-use; residential and commercial development agreements. Development Agreements establish assurances that what is offered by the developer will be built and speeds-up development review.

The City will also help you in your search for available and suitable property and/or available building leases that meet your business’s needs.  For more information, please contact Dave Osaki, Planning Manager, for assistance in locating the ideal site in Mukilteo for your business.
