Community Outreach

We believe that effective governance requires engaging the public. Using alternative formats to reach out is intended to make City government more transparent to our residents and business leaders.  We hope the outcome is more open and authentic communication, and ultimately, more informed decision making by elected officials.

The City conducts Community Outreach to:

Types of Community Outreach

The Mayor, City Council and staff have initiated community outreach efforts by use of the following:

  • Visiting with community groups where they meet: the Library, Harbour Pointe Retirement Center, Rosehill Community Center, YMCA, Local coffee shops
  • Setting up booths at community events: Touch-A-Truck, Lighthouse Festival, National Night Out
  • Posting to social media, i.e., Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Sending out online surveys for participation and feedback
  • Speaking at Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, and Rotary meetings
  • Attending Boy Scout and Girl Scout meetings, and Eagle Scout Courts of Honor
  • Opening Lighthouse Park and Boating Season
  • Volunteering with local non-profit groups to improve the lives of others, i.e., Community Garden, Packs for Kids, Cocoon House, Dawson Place, Special Olympics, United Way
  • Business outreach to owners of businesses in Mukilteo to learn about what they do and learn about their experiences working with City staff
