The Mukilteo Stands Besides You: Social Justice Seminar is an event hosted by the Mukilteo Youth Advisory Council focused on promoting social justice learning and conversation between Mukilteo Youth. This seminar was inspired by the recent events that have occurred all over the US in response to social injustice. This event was open to all middle/high school students residing in Mukilteo and was hosted virtually on Zoom on February 21st, 2021 from 3-4:30 PM.

Shan Oglesby (Ms. Oglesby) – MEd UW, Aaron Lee’s Social Studies teacher @ Kamiak HS, Human Rights Club advisor, union rep, vet, & Mariner grad.
Doug Baer (Mr. Baer) earned his MAT at SPU and is a veteran. He currently teaches AP Human Geography and a new ethnic studies course with Ms. Oglesby at Kamiak High School.
Alex Callaway – Kamiak High School Alumni and current performing arts college student at the American Musical Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in Los Angeles, California.
Niko Battle is a former Kamiak student and also a former MYAC member. Their life has been defined by political action, and Seattle Magazine named them one of Seattle’s Most Influential people in 2018. Moreover, they are a former top 10 debater nationwide and have spoken to over 16,000 people at the Tacoma Dome at WE Day Washington 2019.
Congressman Rick Larsen is a member of the US House of Representatives and represents Washington State’s 2nd District, which includes both Mukilteo and Everett.
