The City of Mukilteo is pleased to announce the formation of the Mukilteo Salary Commission, established by the recently passed Ordinance No. 1498. This independent Commission will be responsible for setting the salaries of the City's elected officials, including the Mayor and City Council. The application window for residents to serve on this Commission is open until 5:00 pm on Friday, June 27.
The Mukilteo Salary Commission was created under Chapter 2.88 of the Mukilteo Municipal Code. It consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Members of the Commission must be residents of Mukilteo and cannot be current officers, officials, employees of the City, or immediate family members of such individuals.
The frequency of meetings is as needed, provided that the Commission meets at least once each year. The City anticipates monthly meetings until the initial salary decisions are made, and less frequent meetings to follow.
Terms on the Commission will be staggered to start, with three members appointed for terms beginning upon their appointment in 2024 and ending December 31, 2026, and four members appointed for terms beginning upon their appointment and ending December 31, 2027.
