Planning & Community Development
About Our Department
- Purpose: Our department exists to meet the development needs of Mukilteo. We manage growth and regulatory changes in a way that protects the small town feel that residents love.
- Values: We value customer-centered and practical solutions that are tailored to Mukilteo. We strengthen trust in small-town government one interaction at a time and work as a team to continuously improve our processes. We show how much we value our employees by investing in their learning and looking for ways to empower their short- and long-term success.
The Planning and Community Development Department includes four divisions:
- Permit Center: Our permit center is a great place to start for general questions about applying for a permit, getting a parking pass, or figuring out what they are building up the street. Email the Permit Center.
- Planning: Our planners do everything from permit review and code compliance to Comprehensive Plan and Municipal Code updates. They are the project managers for your applications, the recipients of your public comments, and the faces you see presenting at public meetings. Email the Planning Department.
- Building: Our Building Official reviews building permits and inspects construction to ensure it is safe and complies with the relevant codes and approved plans. Email buildingdept@mukilteowa.gov.
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS): The GIS division creates maps and analyzes data to help us understand our city better, manage our assets, study our infrastructure needs, and plan for a better future. Explore GIS maps available to the public.
