2016 Annual Street Preservation

The City of Mukilteo will be performing pavement repairs of certain streets within the City shown on the location map below. The portions of streets will be resurfaced and/or reconstructed with asphalt concrete.

When/Where: Work is scheduled to begin in late September and last approximately three weeks.

  1. St. Andrews Dr. at intersection of  116th St SW
  2. 50th Pl W & 97th St. SW
  3. 59th Ave. W
  4. 95th Pl.
  5. 61st Ave. W
  6. 61st at 92nd
  7. 92nd St. SW between 46th Pl W and 44th Ave W

The work is expected to be completed in early October barring unforeseen problems and weather conditions. Construction in your vicinity may not take place in one continuous time period as there are several phases of construction. It also may not extend for the entire three week period. The contractor will complete the concrete work (such as replacing curb ramps, sidewalks, etc.) before undertaking pavement work. Except for special circumstances, normal work hours will be between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What to expect:

Concrete Sidewalk & Curb/Gutter repairs:  New concrete sidewalk and ADA compliant ramps will be installed at end of St. Andrews Dr.  Deteriorated sections of concrete curbs and gutters will be removed and replaced on 61st Ave. W.  One concrete driveway curb and gutter will be removed and replaced on 95th Pl.

Grinding existing asphalt:  A few inches of existing asphalt will be ground off prior to paving in order to make room for the new pavement. During this phase, the roadway is rough and traffic speeds are reduced.

Pavement Repair:  In all locations listed above, large sections of existing asphalt pavement are severely damaged, they need to be removed and replaced all the way down to the base.

Asphalt repaving:  There may be inconveniences associated with driving through the work zone; traffic control and flagging operations will be in effect.  The project inspector will be on site periodically to answer any questions on the day of work.

Utility Adjustment & Pavement Markings:  After the new pavement is placed, the utilities within the road will be adjusted to the new pavement surface and new pavement markings will be applied.

Advanced notice of lane closures and parking restrictions:

During construction:  It will be necessary to close the street partially or completely to vehicular traffic during construction work hours due to safety concerns. No street closure is expected to last more than 12 hours at a time.  Residents should know that access to their driveways may be prohibited for most of the day during the paving operations.  Notices will be distributed or signs will be posted for adjacent residents and businesses within 24 hours prior to paving.

Parking:  Please do not leave vehicles parked on the street while on vacation.

Garbage and mail services:  The contractor will schedule activities around regular garbage/recycling pick-up schedules.

Emergency access: Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout the construction process.
